What makes Masa Diora different?
They are a band with a story. Based upon a narrative written by themselves, their experimental music and ‘trippy’ visuals are instalments to a tragic fiction about an unrequited love and how one's mind can become so disillusioned by the obsession of a 'perfect world' – one so easily imaginable yet so far away.
Set in the retro sci-fi era of the 80s, the character, Lawrence Blight, designs a computer game as a way of escaping his troubled daily life. Becoming obsessed with his creation, and his new fascination with psychedelic drugs, he soon develops a technology which super enhances playing experience - a virtual reality that is decades ahead of its time, but far from perfection... Once you enter, there's no coming back.
In a dream of beauty and tranquility, Lawrence sees a glimmer of hope, a utopia... A “calling”.
He awakes with urgency and desperation: To seek the place he envisioned.
In order to find a new world, Lawrence takes refuge at Libertas – an underground drug testing facility where psychedelic psychotherapy is practiced by an unlawful doctor.
Lawrence trips out – the drug kicks in hard and he sees the place he envisioned in his dream, only more colourful, more serene and real.
His hope, spirit and mind are awakened…
Yet this feeling of bliss is only temporary.
The Visionary Pt. I
Inspired by his trip, Lawrence takes matters into his own hands and designs a virtual reality – a place where he can exist in the utopia he imagines: one which is so easy to believe as the truth but is far from it.
An overwhelming vision of bloom and beauty takes hold of his mind…
He must escape the dark earth and discover a brighter world.
Endless nights of despair and anger push Lawrence to breaking point.
Alone, broken and falling deeper into a depression, he is reminded of the love he once had – perfect, euphoric, limitless.
The virtual world is calling, Lawrence longs for a cure.
A vivid dream, a flashback of unrequited love takes Lawrence down a path to his end.
Far from the light, he questions his continuation. His world is empty, but his mind is fuelled by a desire to reach the utopia which glimmers on the horizon.
With the aid of psychedelics and his self-programmed computer game, Lawrence is ready to embark.
Code complete, player ready. Start engines. 3, 2, 1. Lift off.
It’s 1986, Lawrence enters his virtual reality to explore a universe of beauty and peace.
Bending space and time, he embarks on a journey across the galaxies in search for a new home – in search for happiness.
With a super-enhanced playing experience, Lawrence is immersed into the vision he once imagined through his virtual technology that is decades ahead of its time but far from perfection…
Once you enter, there’s no coming back.
